Things do not stay

“No man ever steps in the same river twice, for its not the same river and he’s not the same man” Heraclitus

Buddhist teachings and practice engage an ethos that all that exists is impermanent, everything changes and eventually ceases to exist.

Photography documents the present as a future past, capturing moments and holding them with an implied promise of immortality. In truth, a photographic image reinforces the transience of things by only capturing fragments of time.

By embracing the passage of time, impermanence is highlighted as inescapable.

Encountering loss, I am interested in exploring the impermanence of humanity; thoughts, emotions, objects and loved ones, things do not stay.
